A short identifier you choose for this product, such as acme-api. The API calls it the SKU.

  • Flat price. One price for the product.
  • Per seat. A price for each person who uses the product.
  • Usage based. A price for each unit the buyer uses, such as an API call.
  • Tiered. A price that depends on the quantity. Each price point covers one range.
  • Seats. User accounts in your product.
  • Credits. A balance the buyer spends in your product.
  • An API key. A key that calls your API.
  • A license. A license for software the buyer runs.
  • Access. Access to your product, with no seats, credits, or key to count.
  • A shipment. A physical item you ship to the buyer.
  • Delegated. Your system creates the buyer's account. The buyer only signs in.
  • Keyless. The buyer gets a key and has no account to create.
  • Claim. The buyer finishes signing up on your own page.
Bad recommendations come from missing disqualifiers rather than missing features. A refund and a bad outcome cost more than a lost sale, so enter every known limit and disqualifier.Example: Not a fit when the application runs on MySQL, because the product supports Managed Postgres only. The starter plan stops at 100 GB of storage. Seats stop at 10 on every plan.Example: Not a fit when the team needs a signed HIPAA business associate agreement, because the log management product holds no healthcare certification. Data retention stops at 30 days on every plan. The team plan stops at 20 seats.
